Continue efforts to foster understanding of dementia

Dementia story.— MUHAMAD SHAHRIL ROSLI/The Star

EARLIER this month, I joined the Memory Walk organised by the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM) in conjunction with World Alzheimer’s Month 2025. It was part of a four-day campaign aimed to raise awareness and educate the public about dementia.

What made the walk so meaningful for me were the participants – persons living with dementia (PLWDs), their family caregivers, the organising committee and volunteers. As they walked together slowly and gently, I saw more than just a group of participants; I saw the strength and compassion within our Malaysian community in facing the growing challenges of dementia.
