SHOULD months have passed since the gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, yet the uneasiness and fear among residents in USJ and Subang Jaya have not subsided. While the Selangor state government has released its investigation report, critical questions remain unanswered.
Petronas’ recent report identified causes such as geological subsidence, poor soil support, and structural fatigue; however, it also revealed that similar conditions exist along 2,680 km of pipelines nationwide. What it did not provide was a clear assessment of which areas, including USJ, are at the highest risk. This omission only deepens public anxiety, and the report’s shortcomings are glaring.
