High-tech tools needed at airports to prevent wildlife smuggling   


EARLY last month, two travellers boarded a flight to Chennai, India with wildlife concealed in a suitcase.

Passing undetected through airport security, their haul included eight exotic species, among them endangered Eastern Grey Gibbons, marbled polecats and a Sumatran white-bearded palm civet. Three baby siamang gibbons were found dead.
