Let shops choose if they want to operate during Hari Raya, says Kelantan MCA leader

MCA Kelantan would like to suggest to the Kelantan state government to consider providing retail shops with the discretion to decide whether to operate during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday period. It is important to acknowledge that while the first day of Aidilfitri is a significant celebration for many, certain businesses may face challenges if required to close entirely. Flexibility can help support both businesses and the economy, while still respecting the religious significance of the holiday.

For businesses that choose to open, we recommend that workers who opt to take leave during this period should be granted the time off in line with their rights under the Employment Act. On the other hand, employees who are required to work should be compensated fairly with the appropriate rates, including overtime pay where applicable.
