No need to look for trouble that doesn’t exist


THE statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that there is no need for new guidelines for Muslims visiting non-Muslim places of worship or events is most sensible and pertinent (Feb 7, The Star; online at bit.ly/star_guidelines).

In the first place, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar should not have raised the matter in public without first bringing it up with the Cabinet – surely he knew that this would be a sensitive issue?
