I REFER to the letter “Ways to keep medical costs down” (The Star, Dec 21; bit.ly/40hAko9), referring to the rising cost of healthcare and health insurance premiums. One key factor in this that deserves greater scrutiny is the extravagant spending by private hospitals on lavish premises, particularly opulent lobbies.
These lobbies, often resembling luxury hotel foyers, are undoubtedly impressive, but are they truly necessary?
