THE colossal RM36.24mil in unpaid bills owed by non-citizens at government hospitals and clinics as of September 2024 is serious and warrants proactive action by the authorities to prevent further strain on the country's public healthcare system.

In a written Parliamentary reply on Tuesday (Dec 10), the Health Ministry informed that the outstanding amount has lessened by 9.58% or RM3.84mil from RM40.08mil, as a result of action taken to recoup the medical arrears by non-citizens between December 2023 and September.
