Budget 2025: Malaysia needs jam tomorrow, not jam today

IT’S time for another national budget to be announced, and often what I wish for is that the government would just fulfil all the requests and suggestions that many of us have made and written about for all the past budgets.

Budget 2024's allocation for healthcare was RM41.2bil; 10.46% of the total budget and the second highest amount after the Education Ministry. Although this looks large, it is not able to support the growth we need in our ailing health services. This is because for far too long we have neglected our healthcare services and hence any small increment in budget is swallowed up by the enormous needs and challenges the services face.
