A JUNIOR colleague recently told me she was offered a position as a laboratory research assistant in Kuala Lumpur with a monthly salary of RM1,500. She is a bioscience graduate.

I was not shocked when I heard this because some of my relatives who had graduated from university with a bioscience degree were paid the same amount when they started their careers. And that was 20 years ago!
