National Harmony Bill urgently needed

THE Malaysian Bar reiterates the urgent need for the introduction and enactment of a National Harmony Bill. It is imperative that Malaysia embraces laws that promote unity, stability, and maturity, which are essential for the country’s economic enrichment and social cohesion.

The Federal Constitution is the supreme law of Malaysia, designed to safeguard the rights and freedoms of all Malaysians. Selective interpretation of the Constitution undermines its integrity and the principles of justice it upholds. It is a travesty to allow such practices to continue without addressing the root causes of discord and division within our society.
