Fire and Rescue Department personnel deserve better pay

I FULLY agree with the move by the Fire and Rescue Department to seek better salaries and terms of service for the nation's 12,000 firemen and auxiliary firemen, as announced by its director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad, "Fire Dept pushes for better welfare of its personnel" (The Star, May 3).

Our Fire and Rescue Department personnel never fail to serve us and therefore we must not fail them. They deserve our fullest support.
