BONGKREKIC acid (BKA) is an extremely toxic compound known for its colourless, odourless and heat-resistant properties.
This acid is synthesised by Burkholderia gladioli pathovar cocovenenans, an aerobic gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium ubiquitous in water, soil, plant rhizospheres and certain animal hosts.
