Compounding the woes of pensioners

GOVERNMENT pensioners usually anticipate a fixed 2% annual increment and a variable festival bonus of RM250. This year, regrettably, the expected 2% increment was withheld under the guise of an upcoming salary revision for all government servants.

Despite receiving a one-time RM1,000 payment on Feb 22 as interim compensation for the lost 2% annual increment, when distributed over 12 months, it amounts to only RM83.33.
