I REFER to the report “Felda plans to develop as 'circular economy' to generate new income” (The Star, Feb 6).

Established on July 1, 1956 with the aim of eradicating poverty by developing land through the cultivation of cash crops, Felda became the model of successful poverty alleviation worldwide. But success if not properly managed can be reversed, and Felda went through that painful experience, so much so that at one stage the government had to step in to save it.
