A LONGITUDINAL analysis titled “Fresh Graduate Adversities: A Decade’s Insight on the Graduate Tracer Study”, by Khazanah Research Institute on data from the Higher Education Ministry, concludes that underemployment (where graduates take jobs below their qualification level) and skills mismatch persist (the number of graduates in skill-related underemployment rose by 7.9% last year to 1.68 million) despite high employability rates (from 75.4% in 2010 to 85.5% in 2020).
Is high graduate underemployment a problem unique to our nation, or are graduates worldwide facing the same issue?
