Let academics publish their views

I REFER to the letter, “Academics competing to publish” by Dr Pola Singh (The Star, Jan 26). The writer begins by praising academics for expressing their views through mainstream newspapers, stating that this is a “promising and healthy development in fostering intellectual discourse within our community”.

But the rest of his letter appears to condemn this practice. He claims that such letters “lack the depth expected of individuals of such academic standing”.
