We need reassurances about new NS

I DON’T doubt the National Service’s (NS) noble objectives but like many, I am befuddled by the apparent haste in re-implementing it recently. Previous versions, I was surprised to learn, had a slew of very serious issues that have not really been addressed.

When announcing the proposal to revive NS, the minister concerned said it will not be like the previous summer camp model and military camps will be used instead. It sounds intimidating and, frankly, most of us are not used to life at a military level. I can only hope when our children get there, nothing gets lost in translation.
