Tiered levy for foreign workers is a good proposal

TREASURY secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican mentioned the government’s plan to introduce a tiered levy system on the employment of foreign workers during the Malaysian Economic Association forum about Budget 2024 on Oct 16.

Under the system, employers who want to recruit more foreign workers will be required to pay additional levy for them. This means the more foreign workers they employ, the higher the levy they will need to pay.
