Ensuring the safety of micro-mobility vehicles


IN view of the rising popularity of escooters and ebikes in Malaysia, it would do well for the authorities concerned to check these vehicles for electrical safety.

A recent report by Electrical Safety First (ESF) in the United Kingdom recommends that batteries for ebikes and escooters must have “third-party approval before being placed on the UK market – a requirement already introduced in New York City following a spate of fatal fires.”
