A SUBSTANTIAL part of our protein requirement is sourced from animals. To get food such as meat, milk and eggs, we must first farm the animals and ensure that the process is undertaken efficiently.

This will require the necessary expertise in animal production, husbandry, disease prevention and control, treatment, animal welfare practices, and food safety and hygiene. Veterinarians are actively involved in these aspects.
