Perhentian suffering from human activity

I VISITED Pulau Perhentian recently after a hiatus of seven years. I started visiting this island in the 90s and fell in love with its clear waters and vibrant coral reef. I regarded it as my slice of paradise on earth.

Unfortunately, just like our planet, the island is suffering under the weight of human activity. During the recent visit, which was my sixth, I picked up stacks of debris while snorkelling and from the shores. I don’t remember doing much of this in my previous visits.
