What’s happening to your graduates, Malaysia?


RECENTLY, I had to hire for a junior professional position for a Singaporean company. The position required a minimal educational qualification of a relevant diploma and about a year’s working experience (but fresh graduates were also welcomed). The monthly salary was around S$3,000 (RM9,961).

Singaporeans who applied usually had a relevant diploma, with one or two having a relevant degree. However, it was the Malaysians who applied that surprised my colleagues and I the most.
