It’s not the job of ministers

IT looks like after two decades, the efforts initiated by then Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew to improve the condition of public toilets remain unfinished. This was confirmed by the current Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming after his visit to toilets at Dataran Merdeka, “It’s a dirty job...” (The Star, Jan 8; online at https://bit.ly/3QLtHnm).

It has also been reported that the new Science, Technology and Innovation Minister had to be involved in getting the leaking roof at the National Science Centre fixed. Apparently, buckets had been used to collect the water leaking into the building.
