THE article “Expanding rights and freedoms” (The Star, Dec 12; online at https://bit.ly/3W03EuK) by Prof Shad Saleem Faruqi raises several issues of public interest.
One stands out and cries for attention – environmental catastrophes caused by lack of sufficient provisions in the Federal Constitution. The writer says the Federal Constitution does not address the need for environmental protection, and even public participation in the environmental impact assessment is a “facade”.
