Focus on online scams welcomed

THE Communications and Digital Ministry’s concern over online scams is indeed well-founded, given the growing severity of this activity, some of which have tricked Malaysians into going to other countries on fake job offers, “Online scam issue tops list” (The Star, Dec 5; online at https://bit.ly/3PaVYDb).

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has assured that the activities of scammers would be given strong attention as part of his immediate plans for his ministry. Other issues that would be addressed are data protection, fake news and misinformation on social media.
