THE SARS-CoV virus and our knowledge of Covid-19 continue to evolve. Screening tests are readily available, and the management of the disease has vastly improved.
As we re-prioritise the current issues facing Malaysians, it is time to end the general indoor mask mandate. The benefit of the prolonged public masking policy has greatly diminished with time due to SOP fatigue, decreasing Covid-19 severity, and our successful national vaccination programme. This has decreased the efficiency of the mask mandate while its societal, environmental and economic costs continue to accumulate.
