EVERY year when we commemorate Malaysia’s National Day on Aug 31, what comes to my mind is patriotism, unity and love for our nation. This should be the same this year despite the multifarious challenges we are facing on all fronts.

What is patriotism? We can define it as a love and respect for our homeland. It is a sense of natural pride in one’s country that drives people to work hard for the development of the nation, protection of its heritage and culture as well as to safeguard the country’s security and well being.
