Don’t deny assistance because of dividends

I REFER to the letter entitled “Shareholders appeal for help to get B40 benefits” by Santhi Rani Jayaram from Bidor, Perak, that appeared on Thursday in Views (The Star; online at bit.ly/star_b40).

I would like to add that when shareholders of a com-pany receive any dividends, as long as the sum received is less than RM2,500 a month for household income, an application under the B40 (lower income) group for Malaysian Family Assistance (Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia) benefits should also be approved and not rejected under Kod 13 and Kod 5.
