Politicians must place conscience on centre stage

I VIEW with grave concern Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai’s On the Beat column on Sunday (“Uncomfor-tably numb”, Sunday Star, July 3; online at bit.ly/star_numb). The piece is a grim reminder of the sad state of affairs plaguing our nation, all brought about by unscrupulous elected representatives.

I believe it’s only after the 1MDB financial scandal was exposed that other instances of corrupt practices of those in high office came to light. It seems that they have been plundering the country right, left and centre – and the looting seems to be going on unabated. They have abused the public’s trust.
