ON June 30, news outlets reported that 20 student groups, including representatives from Universiti Malaya (UM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), made a list of five demands for the government to address regarding the current price hikes of food supplies.
Due to a sharp increase in food prices, these students requested that the Higher Education Ministry and the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry regulate the prices of university vendors' and cafeteria goods and food.
