Value the toil of seafarers

TODAY is Day of the Seafarer. Inaugurated in 2011 under the auspices of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), this day offers a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the contribution of seafarers without whom the flow of goods and international trade would come to a halt.

With merchant ships carrying up to 90% of the global trade and the maritime sector operating at breakneck speed, it’s difficult to imagine life without the participation of seafarers. But their job sometimes comes at great personal cost to themselves and their families.
