In these times, multilingualism should be encouraged


WE Malaysians seem to be expending our energies on splitting hairs. Let’s get our priorities right. When that happens, the rest will follow, just as water seeks its own level.

The current discussion about the compulsory use of Bahasa Malaysia in the civil service and elsewhere is a case in point. Our nation is facing so many economic and social challenges, so it would only seem logical to address these issues before we review our use of the national language.
