I HAD my first dose of Covid-19 vaccine (AstraZeneca) at the end of July last year. A month later, I had a brain stroke (celebral vein thrombosis) and was hospitalised until the end of September. I was eventually given the green light to receive my second dose but only with Sinovac as I was on medication for blood clots. I have letters from my neurologist and haematologist to confirm this.
While recuperating from the stroke, I had to cancel two appointments for the second dose because I was unwell and was also advised not to take AZ anymore. Upon my full recovery, I started contacting the MySejahtera Helpline to get an appointment for my second dose with my preferred vaccine. I submitted the letters from my specialists to all the relevant authorities, but despite numerous calls and even a visit to the Health Department at Kelana Jaya, nothing happened although I was told that my case was under consideration. In the end, I decided to get the second dose on Jan 19 at my own expense.
