IT’S a new beginning for Malaysia’s youth this year, for they now have the opportunity, space and voice to affect the country’s democracy through the 15th General Election (GE15), which will probably take place sometime this year.
In 2019, the Malaysian Parlia-ment approved a Bill (Undi18) reducing the voting age from 21 to 18, and it was supported by 211 out of 222 lawmakers, a remarkable event. This brings us in line with almost 90% of countries in the world where 18 is the voting age.
