Respect and protect whistleblowers

I REFER to the article “Don’t hound whistleblowers, say 21 MPs” (Jan 14, The Star; online at bit.ly/star_hound).

It seems to me that the level of corruption in our country has reached alarming proportions. We need concrete and effective steps to eradicate corrupt practices, and one such step is to ensure whistleblowers are encouraged with rewards and are protected, not intimidated and threatened.
