Beware of problems with automated parking systems

I ENTERED the underground parking lot of a popular shopping complex in Penang recently and noticed that the payment system had been changed. Instead of the ticket dispenser that I was used to in pre-Covid-19 times, there was an automated card reader in place and payments must be made with a Touch ‘n Go or credit/debit card.

I used my credit card but the machine was not able to read it. A parking attendant came over and helped me until I was finally able to enter the parking lot.
