THE United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies pet waste, in particular dog waste, as a toxic pollutant in the same category as chemical and oil spills. This is because dog excrement carries dangerous pathogens that can directly and indirectly cause people to get sick.
In Malaysia, we may have a few million dogs, both strays and pets. There are probably tens of thousands of them in Petaling Jaya alone.
