‘Unfriendly’ police station dress code

RECENTLY, I had to go to a police station to make a report. As soon as I entered, one of the two officers on duty pointed out to me that there is a dress code posted outside and that the short pants I was wearing is not allowed.

However, she and her male colleague did not turn me away and attended to me very professionally. They helped me through some complications in dealing with the report, which I ended up not submitting, and the male officer kindly gave me his mobile phone number in case I face a similar situation in future.
