AIR Selangor has once again left 463 areas in Selangor waterless following the detection of odour pollution at Sungai Semenyih. The fact that taxpayer money has been allocated yet the situation is largely unchanged is simply the peak of irresponsibility.
In Selangor's Budget 2021, the state government announced a total allocation of RM200mil for four initiatives: enforced monitoring mechanism on effluents released into the river, Bio-Remediation pioneer project to restore the water quality of Sungai Gong, 24-hour surveillance in key areas, and a project to pump raw water from the HORAS 600 water ponds in the Selangor river and Pond C in the Semenyih river.
