Focus should be on young drivers

DATUK Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong is reported to have called for a holistic approach to be adopted to determine the competency of an individual to drive, including the need for mobility and other socioeconomic factors, “Wee: Surrender driving licence claims are false” (The Star, Sept 27; online at https://bit.ly/3m1gnMQ).

But alas, the perennial topic that is highlighted is always the “dead-end” age for senior citizens to relinquish driving when in reality the camera should be focused on increasing the age limit for youngsters to commence driving.
