Global trend in TVET: 12th Malaysia Plan will cultivate more talents

The government’s focus in improving the national education system in the next five years is welcomed. With focus on upgrading technical and vocational education training (TVET), we believe this move will help cultivate more talents with the rise of Industrial Revolution 4.0. With more technically trained professionals, Malaysia’s move towards becoming a fully industrialised, developed, high-income nation is within sight.

The 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) as tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has adopted several measures to strengthen TVET. These include improving the ecosystem and enhancing courses through skills certification. Upgrading its quality, recognition and certification of international institutions, and the launch of a scoring system for TVET education institutions are welcomed. This is the correct direction for Malaysia to steer towards becoming a high-income and high-technology country.
