Understand the fear of the student

I SYMPATHISE with the student who shared his experience as an unvaccinated person in “Student feels the brunt of discrimination” (The Star, Sept 23).

The student had a valid reason for being unvaccinated against Covid-19. He plainly stated that he understood the benefits of vaccination but chose not to get the jab as he suffers from trypanophobia, an irrational and extreme fear of blood or needles, which is real.
