Nonagenarian speaks up for vaccination

MY 90-year-old father had reservations about getting vaccinated after hearing all kinds of stories from his friends. He only agreed after much persuasion from his children and grandchildren.

When we took him for his first dose in Penang, he was still terribly nervous and apprehensive. It was the professionalism of the staff at the vaccination centre that won him over. They took the time to talk to him and answer all his questions. He later told us that he felt no side effects whatsoever, and has since become an advocate for vaccination to his group of elderly friends.

My reason for writing is to convey my father’s thanks to the Prime Minister and government for looking after the welfare of the aged. He cannot write well in English but wanted to personally convey his gratitude and appreciation.

Apart from the Covid-19 vaccine, my family also benefited from the aid offered by the government to assist small industries in these trying times. We are truly grateful.
