Blown away by act of compassion

I REFER to the report “Cops donate items to desperate shoplifter” (The Star, Jan 22) and am really grateful to our men in blue for the compassion they showed to the person concerned. Yes, a crime could have been committed, but Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal and his team investigated the matter not only through the law but also, and more importantly, through the eyes of love, compassion and understanding in these trying times.

Let’s not just throw the book at every person committing a crime; instead, let’s work together with the government to help relieve the burden of these unfortunate people.
