Take care of retired athletes

I REFER to the report “Seek and you shall find” (The Star, Dec 11) on rally driver “Flying Sikh” Karamjit Kumar who is set to soar again after falling on tough times.

Karamjit, who brought glory to our country by winning eight FIA-sanctioned international rally titles, including three overall Asia-Pacific Rally Championship driver titles in 2001,2002 and 2004, had posted on Facebook about the difficulties he was going through, including having to sell his 16-year-old Proton Waja to buy a new car so that he could work as an e-hailing driver.
