More men than women are dying from Covid-19

StarGraphic

Women live longer than men. In Malaysia, women’s life expectancy is 77.6 years, five years longer than men, which is 72.6 years. The reasons for this are multifactorial. The fact that men have a shorter lifespans spurred the Movember (moustache and November) movement in many countries. This movement aims to raise awareness globally of preventable men’s health problems, such as testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and mental health and suicide.

Let us take the current Covid-19 pandemic as an example. Many parts of the world, including China, European countries, and the United States, have consistently reported higher Covid-19 mortality rates among men. This discrepancy occurs despite both sexes having similar infection rates.
