Budget 2021: Comment on measures affecting consumers and the environment

Sahabat Alam Malaysia welcomes the increased attention under Budget 2021 to ensure rivers are protected from illegal dumping of pollutants and waste. — BENARD SEE/The Star

The Consumers’ Association of Penang and Sahabat Alam Malaysia welcome Budget 2021 in general as, overall, we see it as a response to the challenges Malaysia is facing with the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequential economic downturn. It is an expansionary and inclusive budget.

We are glad to see many proposals to help, especially, the B40 (lower income) group, micro and small and medium enterprises, and the elderly, disabled and Orang Asli communities. The budget also acknowledges and recognises frontliners dealing with the pandemic.
