Give Sarawak MOs their dues

ON Oct 5, the Health Ministry announced that 150 medical officers (MOs) who are currently on contract in Sarawak had been offered permanent posts in health offices and facilities in the state. Sixty-six of the MOs were born in Sarawak, which means 44% of them were offered permanent posts.

The SUPP Education Bureau strongly expresses its unhappiness over the allocation of only 44% to Sarawakian MOs. However, we would like to acknowledge that 44% is an improvement when compared to the previous allocation, which was less than 10%. At least the increment is an indication that the Health Ministry is listening to Sarawakians.
