Help, not penalise, suicide survivors

MALAYSIAN Medics International, an international medical student-led organisation, would like to reaffirm our call for the decriminalisation of suicide and to advocate for the comprehensive provision of care for suicide survivors.

We are alarmed by the recent increase in the number of suicide survivors who are being prosecuted in the courts of law for attempting suicide. And with the current Covid-19 pandemic-caused economic downturn, suicide attempts will continue to rise if mental healthcare is not improved in Malaysia.
