POSTGRADUATE medical specialist training, especially for contract medical officers, is an important current issue that needs serious attention and a workable solution for our young doctors.
The view of the Malaysian Medical Association expressed through the president’s press statement on July 17 is relevant. However, to conclude that private hospitals do not have the patient load nor the variety of cases for specialist training is not totally accurate. While it is true that small and single private hospitals are not suitable for specialist training, big hospitals and large groups of private hospitals have the potential to provide quality specialist training.
